The Yale-New Haven Breast Center, along with the Yale Cancer Center, Yale-New Haven Hospital and the city of New Haven, will host a free community forum on Wednesday, October 4, from 9 a.m.-noon in the New Haven City Hall aldermanic chambers.

The program, entitled “Hope, Not Fear,” will cover recent advances in multi-disciplinary care in the treatment of breast cancer. Among the topics to be discussed and examined include survivorship issues, access to state-of-the-art care, innovative treatment options. There will also be opportunities to network and propose new ideas, programs and outreach initiatives for patients and their families.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this valuable and timely free forum to women in our community during breast cancer awareness month,” said Dr. Donald Lannin, executive director, Yale-New Haven Breast Center. “This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the latest treatment options and to openly and freely discuss issues pertaining to breast cancer.”

“Because New Haven has a high incidence of breast cancer, we are particularly pleased to partner with Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Yale Cancer Center,” said Maria Damiani, director of women's health, department of health, city of New Haven.

The forum is free, but seating is limited and registration is required. For more information and to register, please call (203) 688-2000, or toll free 888-700-6543.
