New Haven, Conn - The Yale-New Haven Breast Center, along with Yale Cancer Center, Yale-New Haven Hospital, and the city of West Haven, will host a free community forum on Thursday, October 11th from 7:30 AM – 3 PM at Savin Rock Conference Center in West Haven.

The program, entitled “Hope, Not Fear,” will cover recent advances in the prevention, detection, and treatment of breast cancer.  A panel of speakers will cover a variety of topics, including early detection, genetic testing, surgical options, innovative radiation and chemotherapy treatments, and survivorship issues. There will also be opportunities to network and propose new ideas.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this valuable and timely free forum to women in our community during breast cancer awareness month,” said Dr. Donald Lannin, executive director, Yale-New Haven Breast Center. “This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the latest treatment options and to openly and freely discuss issues pertaining to breast cancer.”

The Yale-New Haven Hospital Digital Mammography Van will also be on site for women who need their annual exam.  Please call (203) 688-6800 to schedule an appointment for a mammogram.

The forum and lunch are free, but seating is limited and registration is required. For more information and to register, please call (203) 688-2000, or toll free 888-700-6543.  Yale-New Haven Hospital would like to extend a special thanks to the West Haven Breast Cancer Awareness Program for their support of the Forum.
