Marianne Davies, APRN Appointed Director of Nursing of the Section of Medical Oncology at Yale Cancer Center

New Haven, Conn. - Yale Cancer Center Director, Richard L. Edelson, MD, has appointed Marianne Davies, APRN to the position of Director of Nursing for the Section of Medical Oncology. Davies will be responsible for the management of the nursing staff within the section. In this position, she will play a critical role in reviewing the current clinical practice procedures and developing standards of practice, implementing changes where appropriate.

Marianne's extensive oncology nursing background, combined with her leadership skills, will guide the clinical practice at Yale Cancer Center to the next level of success,” Dr. Edelson said.
Davies will work in close collaboration with Dr. Edward Chu, Chief of Medical Oncology at Yale Cancer Center, and Dr. Hari Deshpande, Medical Director of the Outpatient Medical Oncology Clinic, to implement changes to the clinical practice and initiate quality improvement activities. Davies is focusing her attention on the development of strong multidisciplinary disease teams. Additionally, she will take an active role in helping to establish a palliative care program in the outpatient clinic.
An Oncology Nurse Practitioner at Yale Cancer Center since 2000, Davies has been caring for patients at Yale School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital since 1983. She is also a Clinical Instructor on the faculty of Yale University School of Nursing.
A graduate of Russell-Sage College, Davies received Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University School of Nursing with a specialty in Adult Advanced Practice Nursing Oncology. She is a certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist, as well as an Oncology Certified Nurse.
