Y-ME of Connecticut and Yale Cancer Center present the 16th Annual Breast Cancer Symposium on Saturday, November 5, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. - noon in the Harkness Auditorium at Yale School of Medicine. The symposium, titled, Breast Cancer 2005: What's New?, will provide current information on breast cancer risk, detection, and treatments.

Dr. Michael P. DiGiovanna, Associate Professor of Medicine, section of Medical Oncology, at Yale Cancer Center will give the keynote address, Herceptin as Adjuvant Therapy: A Dramatic Leap Forward in Improving the Cure Rate of Breast Cancer. Following his lecture, a panel discussion featuring Dr. DiGiovanna, Melinda Irwin, PhD, MPH, Harriet Kluger, MD, Teresa Ponn, MD, FACS, and Joanne Barnes Weidhaas, MD, PhD, will be led by Dr. Donald Lannin, Executive Director of the Yale-New Haven Breast Center. In addition, Barbara Cooney Oliver, Executive Director of Y-Me of Connecticut will present It's All About Us - Ways to Empower Ourselves as Survivors!
