Yale Cancer Center Invites Survivors to Celebrate Cancer Survivors Day

New Haven, Conn. — On Thursday, May 25, 2006 Yale Cancer Center will host a unique program for cancer survivors and their families in celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day. The event, titled New Beginnings: Complementary Approaches to Living Well Today, will include a choice of workshops for participants followed by a picnic lunch on Harness Terrace at Yale School of Medicine. Registration will begin at 11:00 a.m., in the Hope Building at 315 Cedar Street; festivities will be from 11:30-2:00 p.m.

Hosted by Dr. Mel Goldstein, meteorologist on WTNH Channel 8 News, the event is free and open to the public. Participants may choose to attend one of the following workshops: Guided Imagery, which will help participants discover a deep state of relaxation; Food for Life, a workshop on cancer prevention and healthy nutritional choices; or Walking in our Patients' Shoes: the Role of Empathy in Medicine, a workshop led by Dr. Kenneth Miller, Director of Supportive Care at Yale Cancer Center.
