New Haven, CT, - The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in collaboration with Yale-New Haven Hospital and Yale Cancer Center, will present a free educational program on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, Exploring Stem Cell Transplantation, at Yale-New Haven Hospital at 5:30 p.m. Suart Seropian, M.D., Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at at Yale School of Medicine, will present this free program to patients and caregivers.
An estimated 18,720 people in North America had a stem cell transplantation for the treatment of blood cancers in 2005. This lecture will provide an overview of stem cell transplantation, a review of current and emerging techniques for treatment of leukemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin’s disease, and the management of stem cell transplantation-related side effects. Dr. Seropian will be available to answer questions following his presentation..
