Biographical Info

Dr Roberts is a medical oncologist with practice devoted to urological cancers (prostate, bladder, testicle). His cancer research focus is upon the design and conduct of clinical trials. He has designed or conducted phase I, II, and III trials involving chemotherapy, biological response modifiers, and immunotherapy. Previously, he worked with novel platinum complex candidate anticancer agents. He was Associate Director for Clinical Research, Co-Leader of Developmental Therapeutics, and Director of the Clinical Protocol and Data Management Shared Resource at the Virginia Commonwealth Massey Cancer Center, an NCI-designated cancer center. In 2012 he received the Harry Hines Award (Clinical Community Oncology Program Principal Investigator of the Year) from the National Cancer Institute. ** Dr Roberts is an expert in sickle cell disease. He was a co-investigator in the landmark Pain in Sickle Cell Epidemiology Study and Co-Director of the Virginia Commonwealth University Adult Sickle Cell Program. ** Dr Roberts is an expert in human subjects protection. He was Chair of the Virginia Commonwealth University IRB Panel A and is Co-Chair of the Yale Cancer IRB.
