Smilow Care Centers Welcome Two Oncologists

Dr. Michael Cohenuram recently joined Smilow Cancer Hospital caring for patients at the Smilow Care Centers in Trumbull and Fairfield, CT. Most recently, Dr. Cohenuram served as Medical Director of the Praxair Cancer Center Breast Care Program at Danbury Hospital where he was also Co-Director of Oncology Research. Dr. Cohenuram received his Medical Degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Brown Medical School/Rhode Island Hospital and his fellowship at Yale Cancer Center. He has been named a Top Doc by Connecticut Magazine since 2013. He specializes in the care of patients with breast cancer, lung cancer, and hematological malignancies.

Dr. Cohenuram joins Drs. Jerry Malefatto, Neal Fischbach, David H. Witt, Justin Persico, and Harold Tara, Jr. at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Centers in Trumbull and Fairfield.


Dr. Elan Gorshein is now caring for patients at theSmilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Guilford. He joins us from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey where he completed his residency and his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Gorshein received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rowan University – School of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated from Rutgers University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. He recently received his Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In 2017, Dr. Gorshein received the Melvyn H. Motolinsky Research Foundation Fellow Award. He focuses his practice in the care of patients with hematological and thoracic malignancies.

Dr. Gorshein joins Drs. Kay A. Haedicke, Su Hsien Lim, and Wajih Zaheer at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Guilford.
