Overview
Eric Grubman, MD, specializes in electrophysiology, the diagnosis and treatment of irregularities in the heart’s electrical system. He treats patients with slow heart rhythms, tachycardia and other cardiac arrhythmias, and is an expert at implanting pacemakers and defibrillators.
Dr. Grubman was the first doctor in Connecticut to implant a leadless pacemaker in a patient. Pacemakers regulate electrical signals that control heartbeat, and leadless pacemakers are miniaturized versions that are inserted directly into the heart instead of an external “pocket” in the patient’s chest. Implantation of a leadless pacemaker is less invasive and causes less scarring.
He chose cardiology because of the “complexity of the issues and the ability to provide quality care to patients.” As a researcher, Dr. Grubman investigates novel pacemaker designs and new treatments for cardiac arrhythmia.
