Overview
Chen Liu, MD, PhD, is a pathologist who specializes in the study and treatment of viral hepatitis and liver cancer. He focuses on understanding how the immune system can be harnessed to treat liver cancer and explores the role of genetic changes in cancer development.
Dr. Liu is also involved in researching graft-versus-host disease, a condition that can occur after a bone marrow transplant. He offers diagnostic services that help in the management of these complex conditions, using a variety of laboratory techniques to analyze tissue samples and provide accurate diagnoses.
As the Anthony N. Brady Professor of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Liu is engaged in research on immunotherapy, which seeks to use the body's immune system to fight cancer. His work aims to develop new strategies to improve patient outcomes in liver cancer and other diseases.
Dr. Liu completed his medical training at Tong Liao Medical College in China and received his doctoral degree in pathology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He furthered his expertise through residency training in anatomical and clinical pathology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and an oncological pathology fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital.
