Community Research Catalyst Program
The Community Research Catalyst Program provides support to YCC researchers to accelerate catchment area responsive research and to community partners to support health promotion initiatives that address catchment area cancer needs.
A call for applications will be available in 2024 for the Catchment Area Research Award to support research to determine the fundamental cause of, or an effective cure or prevention of, cancer.
In 2023, three community-based organizations were awarded funding to conduct health promotion projects in New Haven and Bridgeport. The awardees were Community Action Agency of New Haven, Inc, Sisters’ Journey, and Sister Girl Foundation. One partner, Sisters’ Journey, proposed public and nurse education about early onset breast cancers in African American women.
