Research Assessment Model Strives to Enhance Diversity in Clinical Trials
Researchers at the Yale School of Public Health and Yale School of Medicine, in conjunction with Equitable Breakthroughs in Medicine, a multi-institute collaboration focused on clinical trial diversity, have published a Site Maturity Assessment Model in the journal Trials. The model is designed to support clinical trial sites to identify opportunities for growth and to enrich diversity.

Dr. Paris Butler Appointed Vice Chair of Education and Inclusive Excellence
The YSM Department of Surgery has named Dr. Paris Butler as Vice Chair of Education and Inclusive Excellence. In this role, he will oversee the department’s residency programs, fellowships, and undergraduate clerkship, while advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across the missions. The role builds on Dr. Butler’s success as Vice Chair of DEI, having contributed to record diversity in the residency program and the establishment of the visiting student scholarship program.

Yale Study Finds Link Between Medicaid Expansion and Equity in Cancer Care
Racial disparities in timely cancer treatment disappeared in states that expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), according to an analysis of over 30,000 health records led by researchers at Yale Cancer Center. The findings were presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2019 annual meeting.
