PROSPER

The PROSPER Study (PROgram to address psychosocial Support, clinical outcomes, and genomic insights for Patients with EaRly onset cancers).

The PROSPER study is identifying and addressing the psychosocial (emotional, clinical, and supportive) needs of Black/African American and Hispanic/Latine patients with early onset cancers by developing and pilot testing an electronic information and support tool. This tool will provide information through a mobile device or computer.

We are engaging Black, African American, Hispanic, and Latine early onset cancer patients in focus groups and interviews to gather information on psychosocial needs and challenges throughout the cancer journey. We are talking with them about their experiences managing:

  • Caregiver and childcare needs
  • Transportation challenges
  • Parenting concerns
  • Treatment side-effects
  • Healthcare burden
  • Financial challenges
  • Employment stress
  • Experience coping with cancer

We are also exploring patients’ preferred devices for finding healthcare and support information. Our findings will guide the creation of our early onset cancer support tool, helping us to offer culturally tailored and meaningful information to all of our patients.
