- 00:00Hello, my name is Natalia
- 00:03and the petting zoo.
- 00:05My hematologist oncologist,
- 00:06and I have served as a assistant professor
- 00:10at Yale Cancer Center since 2012,
- 00:13and I met Director of Research Operations
- 00:16for the multiple myeloma disease team.
- 00:20Uhm, I specialize in hematology.
- 00:22And within hematology I treat disorders
- 00:25of the bone marrow plasma cell
- 00:28disorders such as multiple myeloma,
- 00:31monoclonal gammopathy's,
- 00:32ale amyloidosis,
- 00:33and waldenstrom macroglobulinemia,
- 00:34as well as other classical
- 00:37hematology disorders.
- 00:38I was always interested in medicine since
- 00:41my early education because I thought
- 00:44that becoming a medical doctor would
- 00:48truly enable me to help individuals.
- 00:51And help improve their health problems and
- 00:54within first two years of medical school,
- 00:56I actually became fascinated by
- 00:58hematology and oncology and molecular
- 01:00intricacies of this disorders.
- 01:02And subsequently we did have a family
- 01:05case of lymphoma and I think family
- 01:08cases are really impactful and that
- 01:10really motivated me and influenced me to
- 01:13pursue this profession in hematology.
- 01:15I think it is important for patients
- 01:18to bring in any medical questions.
- 01:21Before the appointment,
- 01:22and although that's not required,
- 01:24it's a good idea to have a number
- 01:26of questions prepared for your
- 01:28physician or the 1st appointment.
- 01:30Especially,
- 01:30I have primarily been involved in therapeutic
- 01:33clinical trials for multiple myeloma.
- 01:34I've been involved in the development
- 01:36of early phase clinical trials,
- 01:38and these include some of the yellow zone
- 01:41investigator initiated clinical trials,
- 01:42as well as our collaboration
- 01:44with National Cancer Institute.
- 01:46Bringing in some of the new novel therapies
- 01:48to our patients with multiple myeloma.
- 01:51So I really worked to enhance our.
- 01:54Research portfolio to make all of the
- 01:57newer therapies available for our patients.
- 01:59I really make it my life's goal to connect
- 02:02with individuals on a personal level
- 02:05and make them really a part of our team.
- 02:08Part of our family and we have an
- 02:11excellent team with our dedicated
- 02:13clinicians research nurses,
- 02:14clinical practice nurses and all of the
- 02:17ancillary stuff that make this work really,
- 02:20absolutely successful and tremendous.
