Lauren A. Baldassarre, MD, FSCMR, an associate professor of medicine and radiology & biomedical imaging, has been elected to the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) Board of Trustees. She is an executive member of the Women in CMR Section, previously served on the SCMR Education Committee, and is currently on the SCMR Scientific Sessions Program Committee. Additionally, in response to the growing role of CMR in the cardio-oncology field, she founded and chairs the SCMR Cardio-Oncology Working Group. Through her multiple leadership roles in other societies and collaboration on expert consensus documents, Dr. Baldassarre advocates for awareness, education, and utilization of CMR. Dr. Baldassarre is honored to serve as a member of the SCMR Board of Trustees and give back in a meaningful way to the Society that has helped to shape and support her career.
Dr. Baldassarre earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2006. She completed her residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and her fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital followed by an additional year of fellowship training at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She was recruited to Yale in 2014 where she was instrumental in founding the Cardio-Oncology Program at Smilow Cancer Hospital. Her research focus includes the integration of multimodality cardiovascular imaging into clinical and translational research, with a focus on cardiovascular magnetic resonance and cardiovascular computed tomography.
