Kamal Addagatla, MD, MS, DABS, is an Assistant Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery and cares for patients as part of the Center for Breast Cancer at Smilow Cancer Hospital in Trumbull and Bridgeport, CT. Dr. Addagatla specializes in reconstructive surgery and has a particular interest and expertise in all aspects of breast reconstruction such as post-mastectomy, oncoplastic, and delayed or revisionary reconstruction. He received his medical degree from Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo and completed training and board certification in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery, as well as a fellowship in Reconstructive Microsurgery at Yale New Haven Hospital. He received a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University.
Dr. Addagatla performs both implant-based and autologous reconstructive options such as local tissue (latissimus and TDAP) and free ap (DIEP, PAP, and stacked flaps) for his patients. He also brings expertise in lymphatic reconstructive surgery to help reduce the risk of developing lymphedema at the time of mastectomy (immediate lymphatic reconstruction) or help improve symptoms once it has already developed (lymphovenous bypass). He also sees patients with concerns of breast implant illness (BII). Dr. Addagatla has contributed to both research and quality improvement studies and is passionate about quality improvement in healthcare and educating the community about post-mastectomy reconstruction and advances in microsurgical techniques.
