Clinical Care

Overview

Liva Andrejeva-Wright, MD, is a radiologist in the Yale Medicine Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging who specializes in breast imaging.

She interprets mammograms and MRI exams as well as performs breast biopsies. “I enjoy interacting with patients, reassuring them if their results are normal or helping to make a plan for them if there are worrisome findings,” Dr. Andrejeva-Wright says. To her, “the most important thing is to explain things well to the patients, so that they feel empowered.”

Dr. Andrejeva-Wright is also an assistant professor of radiology and biomedical imaging and the assistant director of the diagnostic radiology residency program at Yale School of Medicine. She enjoys training future radiologists, specializing in breast imaging and conducting research on tomosynthesis (3D mammography). As part of her research, she studies characteristics of breast cancers that are particularly difficult or impossible to visualize on mammography.

“We can make a big difference in patients’ lives, particularly when we find early, small breast cancers.”
